Holiday Cooking Advice from your Energy Corridor Apartments
How many holiday parties have you been to this year? We’ve seen more than a couple holiday parties being hosted in our community of Energy Corridor apartments, and we love that residents are taking full advantage of our luxurious new community. One of the hardest things about hosting holiday parties is the fact that your cooking skills will be put to the test. You can always ask others to bring food themselves, but you’ll feel better about your party if you cook a majority of the food yourself.
With that in mind, we thought we’d share with our residents a list of cooking tips that they can use to make better meals for all their holiday parties and potlucks. If you’re less-than-confident in your cooking abilities, the tips in the post below should help you make meals that you can be proud of.
Without further delay, let’s get right to this week’s blog post! Oh, and when you’re done reading through the post, please feel free to share the link to this page with your friends and neighbors at Alexan City Centre — the Energy Corridor apartments Houston residents choose for contemporary comfort and style.
Experiment with more spices
A lot of people get used to using the herbs and spices in their cabinet and never invest in new ones. If you don’t like the taste of your own cooking, it might be because you’re stuck in a rut where you use the same herbs and spices over and over again. Next time you’re at the grocery store, buy some new seasonings and throw out the old ones in your cupboard. This is an easy way to experiment with new flavors and have a little fun while you’re at it!
Slow things down
There is a time and place for cooking as quickly as possible, but it certainly isn’t around the holidays. This is a time for slow-baked casseroles, stews that you let simmer all afternoon and pork that’s you let cook for hours. The longer you let things cook, the more flavorful they become. Keep this in mind when you’re prepping your holiday meals!
Taste everything, all the time.
The more you taste your food while you cook it, the better it will taste when you’re done. Professional chefs taste their food all the time because it’s one of the best ways to see if the food needs more seasoning or to be cooked longer. You should always watch your food while you’re cooking it on the stove, but your eyes can only tell you so much about how the food will taste.
